In the shell make irregular and uneven circular shape of the shell. Then draw a curve line from the head going down to the leg of a turtle. To be clearer add more curve lines below the shell you draw earlier. The next step, draw a small spikey thing for the tail of the turtle. Step 9: Draw the Tail and Add More Details For the legs, add an up-curve line to it. On the upper inside part of the shell, make a curve line going up. To add some details, put an up-curve line below the shell to make it thicker. Draw two vertical lines and to connect those lines draw a horizontal line below. To help them go to their destination, let’s draw the leg of the turtle. Draw a curved line from the right side of the circle, going to the middle part of the head. After that, create a mouth using the curve line. To complete the face, add a shaded crescent moon shape that serves as the pupil of the eye. Fun fact, did you know that the turtle’s eyesight is clear underwater but is shortsighted at night? Now you know! Step 6: Complete the Face Make a smaller circle near the center of the head. Let’s help the turtle see the beautiful creation by drawing the eyes. To see beautiful creations, we must give importance to our eyes. From the left side of the circle draw a small spikey thing for the nose. Without the nose, the turtle will not live longer. This time let’s draw one of the important parts of a living creature, the nose. To visualize the shell clearer, remove an extra line from the lower part of that up-curve line in the middle. Now that you have already formed the shell of a turtle with the help of the up-curve line inside the oval shape or the body. This will be the preparation for the shell of the turtle. You should draw an up-curve line connected from the left side to the right side. Draw an up-curve line in the lower portion of the body. Step 2: Draw a Curve Line Inside the BodyĪfter drawing the body and the head. Make sure to overlap the oval shape to connect the body and the head of the turtle. Then draw a big oval shape overlapping to the small circle. To begin with, the head of a turtle, draw a small circle shape at the upper right part of the article. This sea turtle art would be a great edition to a reptile or turtle unit study.Instructions Step 1: Draw the Head and Bodyīe excited as we draw your favorite pet animal, Turtle. Where there was blank paper with no crayon, the watercolor adhered to the paper. However, the ripples pretty much disappeared when it dried.ĭid you notice what happened? The wax in the crayons resisted the watercolor, so the color of the crayon drawing didn’t change. The thicker paper wouldn’t ripple like ours did. This is where using a thicker paper would be good. It’s a sea turtle, so it needs to be under the water. Using watercolor paints, paint the entire paper with the blue color. When you are finished coloring your sea turtle, it’s time to add the water. Use any color except maybe blue and fill in all the white space. Using a zentangle technique, make colorful patterns with crayons in each grid square or strip. Next, draw a grid on the turtle shell, unless you are making a leatherback turtle as my son did. Cardstock or watercolor paper would be good. Use thicker paper than we did here, for reasons you’ll understand momentarily. To begin, draw your turtle outline on paper. They come in so many intricate designs and patterns – the perfect theme for an art project! This sea turtle art project combines 2 different types of media, drawing and the new zentangle art form. One of our favorite sea turtle projects was creating sea turtle art! We’ve read about sea turtles, watched sea turtle videos, and even searched for sea turtle nests on vacation. Sea turtles are among our favorite animals around here.
